This prestigious accolade celebrates engineering firms, from any industry, that demonstrate outstanding commitment to delivering positive social impact through their projects, initiatives, and operations, including community engagement, social value creation, inclusivity, and ethical practices. Entry is by a 5-page A4 PDF submission; the judges will be looking for a clear plan and evidence that it is delivering on core objectives, paying particular attention to the criteria listed below.
- Background: Please provide a brief description of the organisation and your social impact strategy, outlining how it was developed and its objectives, including the communities or groups it is designed to benefit.
- Commitments: Describe the social impact commitments made by your organisation and outline the results achieved to date including any initiatives, partnerships, or programmes introduced.
- Targets & Results: Describe the measurable social impact targets set, such as community engagement, diversity and inclusion, education and outreach, or social value creation. Outline the tangible results achieved to date including any innovations introduced.
- Culture: Outline how social impact has been embedded into your organisation, the level of senior management buy-in and the commitments made to staff engagement, training, and communication of your social initiatives.
- Commercial Benefits: Outline how your social impact initiatives are resulting in a positive impact on your business, e.g., strengthening stakeholder relationships, enhancing reputation, attracting talent, improving employee engagement, or supporting long-term growth. Provide metrics where relevant.
- Overall Impact & Legacy: Depth and sustainability of impact on communities or beneficiaries. Long-term value creation and scalability of initiatives. Evidence that the organisation’s approach delivers lasting and meaningful change, not just short-term outcomes.
