ABCO Divers Ltd, a specialist in underwater engineering, has lodged a full planning application for a new light industrial development in Lisburn, Northern Ireland. The project, supported by Carlin Planning, proposes the Moira Road Marine Engineering Hub.
Covering 1.61 acres at 282 Moira Road, the development is designed to extend and redevelop parts of the site while retaining the company’s existing headquarters building and light industrial sheds to the rear. The plan will enable ABCO to increase operational capacity and improve the delivery of its specialised marine and underwater engineering services.
“The Moira Road Marine Engineering Hub will provide us with additional capacity to serve our clients effectively while maintaining the quality and expertise we are known for,” said a company spokesperson. The proposed development reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to strengthening local operations and responding to growing demand for marine engineering services.
ABCO Divers has built a reputation for delivering technical underwater solutions, including inspections, maintenance, and bespoke engineering projects for industrial, commercial, and maritime clients. The redevelopment aligns with sector-wide trends, where specialist engineering firms are investing in modern facilities to boost efficiency, capacity, and service innovation.
While specific timelines and investment details have not been disclosed, the plans highlight ABCO’s strategic approach to infrastructure expansion without disrupting ongoing operations. Retaining existing buildings ensures continuity for employees and projects while introducing upgraded capabilities for the future.
This investment also positions Lisburn as a growing hub for specialised engineering activity in Northern Ireland, supporting local employment and contributing to the region’s industrial development.
