Malaysian earthworks and civil engineering company Advancecon Holdings has signed a memorandum of understanding with EPCC contractor Teras Impiana Sdn Bhd to explore joint project opportunities across data centres, semiconductor-related facilities, advanced manufacturing and clean energy infrastructure, according to The Star.
The MOU, signed between Advancecon's wholly-owned subsidiary Advancecon Infra Sdn Bhd and Teras Impiana, establishes a platform to jointly identify, evaluate and pursue project opportunities where Advancecon's earthworks, civil engineering and infrastructure delivery capabilities can complement Teras Impiana's specialised EPCC, mechanical and electrical, and mission-critical project expertise.
Teras Impiana brings experience in delivering high-specification and mission-critical environments including cleanroom manufacturing facilities, healthcare infrastructure and Tier-rated data centres. The collaboration will explore potential structures including joint tendering and project participation over a 12-month period, with any confirmed arrangement to be formalised through a definitive agreement.
Advancecon managing director Phum Boon Eng said: "By collaborating with a technically specialised EPCC partner such as Teras Impiana, we aim to explore opportunities in higher-specification project segments where civil engineering, infrastructure execution and mission-critical M&E capabilities can complement one another."
Teras Impiana managing director Bavananthan Selvamany said that as infrastructure requirements become more specialised across data centres, healthcare facilities, advanced manufacturing and power-related developments, "the ability to combine civil and infrastructure execution with specialised technical systems will be increasingly important."
The MOU comes at a time when Malaysia, including the state of Perak, continues to attract significant interest in data centre investment, semiconductor-related facilities and advanced manufacturing infrastructure. Advancecon described the collaboration as a strategic step in broadening its participation across infrastructure-adjacent opportunities in higher-specification project segments.
The partnership reflects a broader trend across the Southeast Asian construction sector, where civil engineering contractors are increasingly seeking to align with specialist EPCC partners to access growing pipelines of technically complex facilities in the semiconductor, data centre and healthcare sectors.
The 12-month exploratory framework gives both parties structured time to assess project fit before committing to formal delivery arrangements, reducing risk while preserving flexibility as the Malaysian infrastructure market continues to evolve.
