Galway-headquartered Glanua has opened its first US office near Philadelphia, targeting American pharmaceutical and advanced manufacturing facilities. The water and wastewater engineering firm expects revenue to exceed €200 million this year, with plans to double annual revenue to €400 million by 2028.

The new office, in Radnor, Pennsylvania, marks the latest stage in a period of growth and international expansion for Glanua, which has already expanded across Ireland and the UK and established an engineering hub in Lisbon. The US business will initially focus on designing specialist water and wastewater treatment systems for the life sciences, food and beverage manufacturing sectors.

Glanua expects its US operation to grow significantly as it establishes a presence in the market, with plans to build a team of more than 200 employees over time. The company has appointed Mark McKeever, a chemical engineer with a background in global account management and business development, as its US Operations Director.

Glanua employs 750 people and recorded revenue of €155 million in 2025, with revenue expected to exceed €200 million in 2026. The company has secured an order book valued at €900 million to 2030 and is pursuing a five-year strategic plan to grow annual revenue to €400 million by 2028.

Karl Zimmerer, Group Managing Director of Glanua, said: "The opening of our first US office is a major milestone for Glanua and reflects the strength of the business we have built in Ireland and internationally." Zimmerer added: "We have expanded significantly in Ireland and the UK and established an engineering hub in Portugal. Our entry into the US is the next step in our international growth journey."

The structural driver is sustained investment in American pharmaceutical and advanced manufacturing facilities, which require increasingly complex water systems to support production, regulatory compliance, capacity expansion and sustainability. Glanua's US team will be supported by its engineering and project delivery specialists in Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe.

In Ireland, Glanua is part of Uisce Éireann's ECI 2 Framework, supporting early contractor involvement in major water infrastructure projects over the next five years. The company's headquarters remain in Loughrea, with regional offices in Cork, Belfast and a manufacturing facility in Navan, Co Meath.

For the sector, Glanua's US entry gives the engineering firm a presence spanning Ireland, the UK, continental Europe and North America, positioning it to compete for increasingly complex water infrastructure work across all four markets.
