Grant has enhanced its professional development programme for mechanical and electrical (M&E) engineers, architects, and specifiers, aiming to support Ireland’s transition toward low-carbon and energy-efficient building systems.
The programme provides Engineers Ireland and RIAI-approved continuous professional development (CPD) training free of charge, delivered both onsite at Grant’s purpose-built Training Academy in Birr, Co Offaly, and offsite for businesses nationwide.
The CPD courses cover design, specification, and system performance, focusing on renewable and hybrid heating technologies. Key offerings include introductory training on air-to-water heat pumps, condensing oil and HVO-ready boilers, and wood pellet boilers; product-specific training; and sessions on heat pump technology and emitter sizing. The programme ensures engineers can implement compliant, efficient, and sustainable systems aligned with SR 50/MCS and Part L standards.
Grant’s initiative bridges theory and practice. Attendees gain hands-on experience integrating multiple heating technologies, including the Grant Aerona R290 air-to-water heat pump, Grant Vortex HVO-ready boiler, and Grant Uflex underfloor heating. This approach supports correct system design from project inception and optimises operational efficiency across projects of various scales.
Keith Scully, Grant’s training manager, emphasised that the programme evolves continuously to reflect regulatory and technological developments, giving engineers confidence in system specification and application. Beyond technical training, the programme encourages collaboration between engineers and manufacturers, fostering practical know-how that strengthens project outcomes and lifecycle performance.
The CPD courses position engineers to meet growing demands for sustainable, energy-efficient heating in Ireland’s built environment. By investing in skills development, Grant enhances the capability of the engineering workforce, promoting innovation and reliable execution in civil and building services projects.
