Swiss-headquartered power and energy technology company Hitachi Energy is investing €4 million in a new service centre at Dublin North Park, according to Engineers Ireland, scheduled to open in autumn 2026 and designed to strengthen grid resilience and expand lifecycle service capability across Ireland's modernising energy infrastructure.
The facility will expand Ireland's capability to service critical grid infrastructure including transformers, switchgear, breakers and digital services. It will include dedicated customer training facilities and a customer operations centre to support utilities, industries and data centres, with a focus on optimised workflows, modernised equipment and health, safety and environmental excellence.
The investment forms part of Hitachi Energy's broader global programme of US$1 billion (approximately €839 million) committed to expanding service capacity and developing more than 5,000 additional service experts worldwide. The Dublin centre contributes to that programme while also marking 80 years of the company's presence in Ireland.
Laura Fleming, country managing director UK and Ireland at Hitachi Energy, said: "We are very excited to continue building our long legacy in Ireland, with the opening of our new facility marking 80 years in Ireland. The new service centre will play a vital role in creating an energy future that is resilient, sustainable, and integrated. This is crucial for long term energy security and will significantly enhance operational excellence in Ireland. The investment decisions show our commitment to key customers and partners in helping to deliver the critical infrastructure needed to meet energy targets and in offering new jobs in Ireland."
The investment is designed to create additional jobs and expand Hitachi Energy's operational capabilities in Ireland at a time of significant pressure on the national grid. Ireland's electricity system is experiencing surging demand driven by digitalisation and the rapid expansion of energy-intensive data centres, while an increasing proportion of generation is coming from intermittent renewable sources.
The new service centre is positioned to address growing demand for specialist lifecycle services as Ireland's ageing energy infrastructure requires modernisation to meet both renewable integration targets and long-term security of supply requirements.
The Dublin North Park facility reflects Hitachi Energy's stated commitment to innovation, partnerships and sustainability in the Irish market as the country accelerates its energy transition programme.
