Jacobs has been awarded a five-year Engineering Design, Planning, and Project Management Framework by EirGrid, Ireland’s state-owned transmission operator, with an option for a three-year extension.

The framework will provide critical technical services to advance Shaping Our Electricity Future, EirGrid’s strategy to transform the national grid and achieve Ireland’s renewable energy ambitions.

Under the new framework, Jacobs will form an integrated design team to deliver end-to-end services in planning, design, and project management for high-voltage transmission infrastructure, covering both overground and underground assets, including AC and DC technologies. The contract also encompasses engineering design, environmental, health and safety, and project management services to ensure long-term grid resilience.

“Reliable, efficient, and sustainable electricity transmission systems are central to enabling Ireland’s energy transition. Our integrated design team will develop projects holistically, from early-stage planning to delivery, with a strong focus on reliability, compliance, and environmental stewardship,” said Richard Sanderson, Jacobs Executive Vice President for Europe.

EirGrid’s Shaping Our Electricity Future outlines how Ireland’s grid will evolve to support at least 80% renewable generation by 2030. The new framework aims to help deliver that vision by accelerating the delivery of sustainable, secure, and flexible transmission systems capable of integrating large-scale renewable energy.

Across Ireland, Jacobs continues to play a pivotal role in national infrastructure, supporting initiatives such as BusConnects Dublin and Cork, Irish Rail’s Galway to Portarlington upgrade, and Uisce Éireann’s water resilience programmes.

Globally, the company is involved in landmark projects including Suedlink in Europe and the Marinus Link in Australia, underscoring its leadership in energy and infrastructure transformation.
