Marelli has unveiled a new technical R&D facility in Bangalore, southern India, further advancing its innovation strategy and strengthening its engineering base in one of the world’s most dynamic automotive markets. The facility, located in Embassy Manyata Tech Park, will accommodate 350 employees and expands Marelli’s existing presence in the city, where another R&D centre opened in 2022. With this addition, Marelli’s total R&D capacity in India will now reach around 1,200 specialists across its three innovation hubs.
The new site is purpose-built to accelerate breakthroughs in key technology areas including electronics, lighting, propulsion and software-defined vehicles. It features state-of-the-art infrastructure with laboratories for optics, hardware and automotive validation, alongside training and collaborative spaces designed to nurture creativity, teamwork and technical excellence. The centre will focus on end-to-end development of systems for infotainment, clusters, body control modules, engine management and advanced lighting, working closely with Marelli’s global teams to co-develop solutions for emerging technologies such as zonal architecture, AMT, BMS and advanced lighting innovations.
Marelli India is also enhancing its in-house testing and validation capabilities, ensuring that product design and performance meet the highest global standards while shortening development timelines. This investment underscores the company’s confidence in India’s engineering and software talent, leveraging local expertise to create globally relevant solutions.
Saju Mookken, Marelli India Country Manager, described the opening as a major step in the company’s growth journey, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and customer excellence. With a presence now spanning 15 production sites and three R&D centres across six cities, Marelli is positioning India as a key driver of its global transformation.
