Engineering firm SES has reported record turnover of £590.4 million for 2025, up 27 per cent. The Wates Group subsidiary enters 2026 with an order book of nearly £1 billion, targeting data centres and advanced manufacturing as its strategic growth sectors.

Turnover increased from £463.7 million in 2024, marking the fifth consecutive year of growth and the highest revenue in the company's history. Pre-tax profit rose from £9.3 million to £9.9 million, despite significant investment in engineering capability and capacity to support strategic growth.

Part of the Wates Group, SES grew its turnover with external customers outside the group by 64 per cent in 2025, to £292.3 million, up from £178.4 million in 2024. Revenue is now approaching an even split between work delivered for Wates and third-party customers.

SES specialises in engineering, technology and offsite manufacturing services, delivering mechanical and electrical solutions across sectors including data centres, healthcare, science and research, defence, justice, commercial development and critical infrastructure. 2025 saw the creation of SES Technology, targeted at data centres and infrastructure projects, alongside a new offsite manufacturing facility in Walsall.

The business completed 23 projects during the year, a 64 per cent increase on 2024, including the Life and Mind Building for Oxford University, Trinity Road for Lloyds Banking Group in Halifax, and The Belfry Hotel alongside VINCI. Ongoing projects include the Etihad Stadium in Manchester and a gigafactory in Sunderland for AESC UK.

Rob Clifford, executive managing director at SES, said: "2025 has been another exceptional year for SES. We achieved record turnover, increased profitability and delivered more projects, for more customers, than ever before, while continuing to invest in the future of our business and our people." Clifford added: "Our continued growth reflects a business that is increasingly recognised as a strategic partner, not simply a supply chain provider."

For the sector, SES's growth follows the opening of its flagship London office at Portsoken House in Aldgate, providing a hub for its expanding operations across London and the South East as the business enters 2026 with a strong pipeline of data centre and advanced manufacturing opportunities.
